The new walkway to the back is being setThe yard is starting to look calm and relaxing - no more of the hard lines that were there at the beginning.
More progress has been madeThe beds are in and the hardscape is nearing completion
Another view from the back - in progressThe view from the back is taking shape.
Looking towards the front (in progress)The sidewalk becomes the material for a small patio
View of the yard - project in progressWe want you to enjoy the trip through your yard, not just hurry you along to the other end. The curving walkway will be over the French drain helping divert the water from the foundation
The project has startedOne of our main priorities is to improve drainage along the foundation and move water away from the house. We remove the barriers that hold water against the foundation and properly grade the yard away from the foundation.
View from the back - beforeAs you can see - builders like straight lines.
Entering the yard - beforeIn addition to the trees competing for all the water, the soil is sandy and there are pockets of intense sun. More opportunities to fit the planting for the terrain.
Linear beds following the property lineHere is the maple and the bed along the front fence. Maples like water and have lots of surface roots, which gives the lawn a lot of competition. Planting under these trees will need some additional planning.
Along the houseThe sidewalk goes straight from the front to the back - laid directly in the soil, it is uneven from years of freezing and thawing. Water enters the basement along this wall.
Initial ViewYou can see the pine that dominates this part of the yard. Pines and lawns do not get along well.
